“That was unfortunate. It was kind of an exchange with our fans out in front of us,” Jones explained during a Tuesday interview. “There was a swarm of Dallas supporters—not Jets fans, our fans. The entire stadium was brimming with excitement for the Dallas team.”
He further clarified that the gesture was entirely accidental, happening amid the excitement following the team’s final touchdown. “I just put up the wrong finger,” he remarked. “The action was accidentally done. This is sincere. Should you call it accidental, you can. But it got corrected pretty quick.”

This incident isn’t the first time an league proprietor has been fined for misconduct. Previous cases involve:
