Cars in German Town Found Covered with Swastikas in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Authorities mentioned they were alerted by a man who discovered a vehicle in Hanau smeared with red-colored substance

Around fifty vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.

Police say they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.

The liquid had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they reported.

Law enforcement then found many other vandalized cars and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement say initial examinations suggest the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; investigators are presently not informed of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they commented.

Local authorities announced they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have asked to the public for tips.

A high-ranking representative commented the attack made him without words and had to be resolved quickly.

"This event hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing attack in 2020," he posted on online, recalling the death of nine people by a gunman aiming at people of migrant background in five years prior.
